Hello!

Welcome my site:) 

My name is Carolyn Hockley and I am an author of fiction/fantasy novels and, more recently, of children's chapter books. I began writing poems and short stories at the age of 10 and haven't stopped writing since then. I have two grown children and a lovely tuxedo cat. Juliette (my cat) is great company. She doesn't disturb me when I'm writing and she's eager to play when I take breaks throughout the day:) I live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where the ocean is but a few minutes away in many directions and I can look out at the Halifax harbour from my window.

Writing mystery novels was what I thought I was meant to do until I opened my creative clubhouse for kids and started reading young adult fiction. Wow... I was so excited about the endless possibilities with fiction/fantasy books! The sky would be the limit for me and my overactive imagination. So I switched gears in 2010 and haven't looked back.

I have also been a writing coach for more than 8 years. My goal is to make sure writers understand the importance of their own creativity. Each creative person is unique and amazing. The best thing about being a creative writer is that you are only ever limited by the limitations you decide to put in front of you. There is no right or wrong with your creative ideas. And that's awesome!

The photos on this page give you a little peek into my life as an author and creative person. Currently I am writing the 4th book of the Arazi Crossing series. In December 2022 I launched the first book in my new children's chapter book series called Green Bin Nation. This year the second installment of this series will move from Halifax to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia as the kids help the recycled characters connect all of the secret underground tunnels, allowing all children who help their parents with recycling to grow a new generation of planet savers!
